Web3 Assets Vault (web3assetsvault.com) calls itself a next generation crypto wallet with zero transaction fees, 50+ cryptocurrencies and more than a million active users. The California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation lists it on its Crypto Scam Tracker as a fraudulent crypto trading platform reported by victims.
How a fake wallet is used
Victims are usually sent to sites like this by someone they met online. They are told to move their crypto into the vault for safety or for a trading strategy. The balance then grows on screen. When they try to leave, a tax, a verification charge or a minimum balance appears. A real self custody wallet never holds your keys, and never asks for a fee to give your coins back.
- Stop all transfers to the vault.
- Record every address and transaction hash.
- Report to the police and, if you are in California, to the DFPI.
- Ignore anyone who offers to recover the funds for a fee.
A wallet that shows you a balance before you have one
The homepage shows a total balance of 27,892.47 dollars, up 18.4% this week. That is a picture, not your money. The domain was registered on 24 August 2025, so a million users would mean thousands joining every day, yet the site names no company, no address and no regulator.

How to tell a real wallet from a vault scam
A real crypto wallet is software you install or a device you hold. You get a recovery phrase, and nobody else can move your coins. Web3 Assets Vault works the other way round: you send coins to an address it gives you, and from that moment it decides what you can withdraw. If someone asked you to deposit into the vault to earn, to stake or to protect your funds, the coins left your control at that point.
The DFPI tracker exists because California residents reported losses to platforms like this, and the entries describe the same stages again and again: a contact online, an app or website, early profits, then fees to withdraw. The domain web3assetsvault.com was registered on 24 August 2025, more than enough time for many victims. Report your losses even if they feel small, because each report helps link wallets to the same group.
