Binance is one of the biggest crypto exchanges in the world, and that is exactly why scammers pretend to be it. A fake Binance support agent can look convincing, use the logo, and even know your name. This guide shows how the trick works and what to do if you have already been caught.
Five signs it is not Binance
- ✗ Binance support never contacts you first on Telegram or WhatsApp.
- ✗ No real support agent ever asks for your password, 2FA code or seed phrase.
- ✗ Nobody legitimate asks you to move funds to a safe wallet.
- ✗ The link is a look alike domain with an extra word or letter.
- ✗ They rush you and say your account will be closed today.
You can check any website, email, phone number or Telegram account on the official Binance Verify page. If it is not listed there, it is not Binance.
Already sent funds? Do this now
- Log in to your real Binance account through the official app, not a link.
- Change your password and reset 2FA.
- Open a ticket through the in app support chat and give them the receiving wallet address.
- Report the fake account on the platform where it contacted you.
- Report the theft to the police and a fraud centre such as the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or Action Fraud.

Why this is not a Binance hack
In these cases the exchange was not broken into. The scammers tricked a person into handing over access or moving funds. That matters, because it changes who can help. The exchange can still flag the receiving address, and your report helps link the scam wallet to others.
Does Binance call customers?
Treat any unexpected call or chat that claims to be Binance as suspicious and verify it on Binance Verify.
Can Binance reverse my transfer?
A completed blockchain transfer cannot be reversed by anyone, but the receiving address can be flagged and traced.
The most common fake Binance messages
| Your account is suspended | Pushes you to log in through a fake link. |
|---|---|
| Unauthorised withdrawal detected | Creates panic so you act fast. |
| You have a pending airdrop or reward | Asks you to connect your wallet to claim it. |
| Compliance needs to verify your funds | Asks you to send coins to a safe address. |
| Binance P2P order on hold | Tricks traders into releasing coins early. |
Where these scams find you
Fake Binance agents watch for people asking questions in public. A post on X, a comment under a YouTube video, a question in a Telegram group or a TikTok reply saying “my Binance withdrawal is stuck” can bring several fake helpers within minutes. Many use profile pictures with the Binance logo and names like Binance Support Team.
The safest habit is simple: never ask account questions in public, and never move the conversation to a private chat with someone who contacted you. Open the official app and use the support chat inside it.
Protect your account from the next attempt
- ✗ Set an anti phishing code in your Binance security settings so real emails show it.
- ✗ Use an authenticator app instead of SMS codes.
- ✗ Turn on withdrawal address whitelisting.
- ✗ Bookmark the real site and only log in from that bookmark.
- ✗ Never share your screen with anyone while your account is open.
How fake Binance support scams work
It usually starts with a problem. You post a question on social media, or you receive a message saying your account is locked, a withdrawal is pending or suspicious activity was detected. Then a helpful “support agent” appears on Telegram, WhatsApp or by phone.
- They ask you to verify your account by sharing a code, a screen or your seed phrase.
- They send a link to a page that looks like Binance but is not.
- They ask you to move funds to a “safe wallet” while the issue is fixed.
- Once the coins move, the agent disappears.
Remember this
- Real Binance staff never DM you first.
- Check every contact on Binance Verify.
- Never share codes, passwords or your seed phrase.
- Use the in app support chat for real help.
- Report fake agents to the platform they used.
