Its menu mirrors a real exchange: Our Products, Listing Regulations, Connect Programmes, Market Data, and even “Related Sites: LME”. Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) put hkgex.online on its alert list on 18 September 2026. The domain was registered on 5 September 2026 — thirteen days earlier.
How to tell the real exchange apart
The genuine Hong Kong exchange operates at hkexnews.hk and hkex.com.hk. It does not use a .online address, and it never contacts individual investors to sell shares. Any “exchange” that you reach through a chat group, a dating contact or a WhatsApp adviser is not an exchange. If you were shown a share price on hkgex.online, that price is set by the people who took your money.

The site also lists a “HKGEX Ether Reference Index” and gold futures indices with no data, copied labels that make the page look complete at a glance. Real market-data pages update constantly; these figures sit still.

A fake exchange celebrating a fake listing
The homepage banner congratulates “Silk Capital (Hong Kong) Holdings Limited on Its Listing on HKGEX” and shows the stock code “06788.HK”. A home-made exchange with its own “listings” lets scammers sell shares that exist only on their own website. Victims are told a company is about to list, buy “pre-IPO” shares, and watch a price on HKGEX that the operators control.
