Bitcoin Trader — “The Official” Of What, Exactly?

Verdict up front: Bitcoin Trader: Copy Trading describes itself as “the official Bitcoin Trader Software”. “Bitcoin Trader” is one of the most warned-about brand names in retail crypto — a name used for years by fake-endorsement scam sites. The app also lets users copy trading robots built by anonymous strangers.

“Official” requires something to be official of

The first line of the description reads: “Automated Crypto Trading with the official Bitcoin Trader Software”.

“Bitcoin Trader” is not a company. It is a name — one of a small set, alongside Bitcoin Revolution, Bitcoin Era and Bitcoin Code, that has been recycled for years across fake-endorsement landing pages: the invented newspaper article, the celebrity who never said it, the “250 minimum deposit”, the call from an account manager. Regulators in Europe, the UK and Australia have published warnings naming these brands repeatedly, and several appear by name on the AMF’s own blacklist.

Calling an app the official version of that name does not distance it from the association. It claims it.

Copying robots built by strangers

The second feature is the one that matters most: “Copy among a list of available robots created by other users. Select the amount you want to attribute to each robots.”

So the strategies you would be allocating real money to are automated scripts written by anonymous users of the same app. There is no stated verification, no audited performance history, no identity check on the author, and no explanation of how a robot’s displayed record is calculated or whether it can be gamed.

A strategy can look excellent for months by taking on hidden, enormous tail risk — selling options-like exposure, or averaging down without a stop — and then lose everything in a single session. Displayed past performance is exactly where that risk does not appear.

What is not disclosed

No company, no jurisdiction, no regulator, no licence. “BORobot” is a store handle. For an app that allocates real money across automated strategies, none of the questions that matter — who holds the funds, which venue executes, who is accountable — is answered on the listing.

If the name sounds familiar, that is the point

These brand names persist because they work. A person who has seen “Bitcoin Trader” in an advert, a social media post or a forwarded message arrives already half-familiar with it, and familiarity does the job that evidence should. The correct response to recognising the name is the opposite of comfort: search it together with the word “warning” on your own regulator’s website before you go any further.
